Why do German dislike other German cities which aren't there own?

I mean, every time I ask a question like, "which city has the best nightlife in Germany?", or "Which is the nicest city to live in?" every answer has about 10 thumbs down from other German users.
Why is this?

Well first of all how do you know the thumbs are from German users, do you have the second sight?

We have a troll problem in this section since a long time.

However there always has been a healthy rivalry between German cities and regions.

Only one famous example is Cologne vs Düsseldorf

There is someone -- or several people -- who spend most of their time in this section "distributing" thumbs, usually down. Often the best, most informative answers receive the greatest number of thumbs down. Go figure!

Germans are just competitive. We love our home towns and simply think that there can be no better town :)

Besides being competitive, Germans are also very proud of their home towns. Duesseldorf and Cologne are very good examples. I went to college in Cologne and the rivalry between both cities was huge. Always in a good way though ... never mean...
